The Minnesota High School Hockey Tournament was returning to its rightful place in St. Paul for 2001 after a two year stint on the West side of the river. This was one of those odd circumstances where I actually had the title for the piece before I painted it. I spent much of New Year's Day 2001 driving around the East side of St. Paul looking for a background. The background you see in "Coming Home" is actually a combination of views from Mounds Park and Dayton's Bluff. I was then fortunate en enough to have three great models to work with.
